ABOVE THE CROWD

Day 5

30 in 30 Challenge

"Everything I have ever desired is at the point where stillness is." Eckhart Tolle

Last year I went through what I call my "blue" period. I used a lot of Pthalo Blue which gave my work a wintry look, but it made the painting peaceful. This little painting harks back to that period.

The title comes from hiking in the high country. It doesn't take much to get away from the noisy boats and crowds on the beach. Near silence descends as you climb, with only the hum of insects, the chirp of crickets and the occasional bird call

A lone tree stands sentry over a quiet scene. The snow on the distant peaks and the slight blush in the sky points to this being an early spring sunrise. I almost added to the foreground but thankfully I managed to resist. If you have a busy life, this painting will bring you peace.
