ROSE DE PARIS

I'm still working on duos and this is one half of a rose duo which I've been working on. I still have some finishing touches to do on the companion to this ACEO so I will post the image tomorrow.

At the beginning of March I said I was giving florals a rest for a month and I can't tell you how difficult that was for me. Yes I know I snuck in some flowers into my landscapes and still lifes, but they weren't full blown flower paintings. So, this is the first flower I've painted for a month and it feels good. I'm proud that I managed to stick to my word, but now with spring on our threshold I'll probably let the petals fly for a while.

When I sit down to paint each day I select several images to use as inspiration and on dull days I've missed being able to pull some bright flowers from my database and splash pigment around. So it's with a sigh of relief that I present.
