I spent many hours thinking and worrying about this painting and finally changed the background just a touch. What I was worrying about was the circular wave almost dead center in the painting. This seems to break many rules of composition, but I like it. What do you think? I suppose time will tell.

Power and Beauty is painted on prepared Strathmore Windpower, with top quality pigments, UV Varnish, signature back and front and comes with a certificate of authenticity. All my paintings purchased between 15 - 31 May 2013 come with a free print of another one of my paintings.

I love the ocean and have spent many hours watching waves. I never learned to surf which I regret. I wonder if my cousin surfed. She lived by the ocean. She died yesterday from what appears to have been a rapid viral infection and she was gone in a couple of days. She wasn't old by today's standards, only 64, but at least she didn't suffer.

It's a strange feeling to lose your oldest cousin, it's an indicator the grim reaper is coming your way. Even more reason to follow my dreams. You never know when your time will be up.

  1. I love this painting! I have something a little bit similar to this in the works, and I've always loved exaggerated waves and swirls. This piece is chalked full of emotion, so much so that I can feel the turmoil in your heart translated into paint and canvas.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin. She was so young - that must be so devastating to you and your family. And yes, unfortunately sometimes it takes a tragedy to remind you to follow your dreams. I know that feeling far too deeply, and I'm truly sorry for your loss. May God hold you and your family in His hands as you each deal with your loss in your own ways. Take care, Sea, and God bless!
