Sunrise and sunset seemingly go on for hours when you are far out a sea. There is no obstruction to the view in either direction. Clouds seem to pull in from nowhere and the sun plays hide and seek in the midst of a spectacular explosion of colour. Neither the painting nor the photograph of the painting above can really do justice to the show.
