JOY at resting stage
In November I took a workshop with a top selling local artist FIONA  NEAL. See her work here. The students were a mix of professional, intermediate and beginner artists. Fiona teaches an experiential style, so it wasn't copying what she did, it was wild and free. During the class I started three 24" square works (large for me).

Fiona explained that the first part of her work is fast and intuitive; then she sets the canvas aside and comes back later. She advises to return a while later to see what it needs to finish the piece.

I had no idea it would take so long for me to return to the canvases. First there was the busy pre-holiday season, then the celebrations and right into 30 paintings in 30 days and ART PARTY on January 1st. This is the first uninterupted moment I've had to finish them for sale. Every day the three canvases beckon but other matters were more pressing

So I'm pleased to complete the first one, JOY. You will notice that some of my raised leaf pattern process has been added: Perhaps that is what this painting was waiting for. The quote below seemed appropriate to this series. From Karen Margulis' blog here)

"Never undervalue your emotions. They are the force behind every great work. You must strive to paint ideas and beauty, not things. Merely copying objects will lead to work that is journalistic rather than poetic, and the results will be paintings that never stand out from the crowd. When you paint  throw your whole heart into the creation and watch what happens."

30 PAINTINGS IN 30 DAYS - Day 24

As a special gift to fellow artists I am allowing you to post on my blog during the 30 in 30 Challenge. I'm using the same type of system as Leslie Saeta, so if you're participating it will be easy. Please post  with YOUR NAME ONLY (not the painting's name or your business name) and a link to your web presence.

Posting ends at midnight each day and voting begins. Voting is open on all the previous days blogs from January 1st until January 31st. Three votes for each person every day. Voting opens when posting closes and continues till 31st January 2015. At close of voting the three most popular paintings rise to the top and remain there forever.

All I ask in return is to spread the word to other artists and offer your buddies a chance to win prizes. If you blog, link to your entry on it. Share to Twitter, FB, Pinterest etc. with an easy hover and click on the thumbnail. To visit the artist and tell them how much you love their work click on their thumbnail.

Prizes given to the most active artists and voters that participate throughout the month. Posts, Votes, Comments, Shares etc.

Good Luck everyone.
Thank you for visiting my blog

P.S.  Post your painting on the current day and vote on all the previous blogs from January 1st for the best chance to win. You have 3 votes each day and voting is open on all pages till January 31st. To vote click on the grey heart on the painting you like.
