Like many in Canada I've been buried in snow for over a week and my thoughts are drifting to the beach.
In line with my 30 in 30 series, today I tried some Artists Loft Fine and Coarse Modeling Pastes. Although it says on the tube that these dry fast, I would recommend letting it dry overnight before applying paint because I found the wet paint was lifting off the texture, but maybe it does this even when completely dry. I tried Coarse texture in the sand and clouds but I wouldn't use if for clouds again. The Fine texture is in the waves. Although it was possible to put these textures on the Canson Arches board, it took away some of the joy of the velvety surface which is perfect for smooth brushing.
The line work is in Golden Liquid Acrylic with a Fine Point Tip. As the fine tip is like a metal syringe it is a bit scratchy and catches on any rough surface, so I went in with a damp brush and smoothed out some blotches. I'm really enjoying line painting over brush work and will be doing more in the coming year.
