30 Day Creative Gathering - First week

Well, well, well, I returned to my blog after too long away, and discovered they had completely redesigned Blogger. I’m sure it will be better once I get used to all the changes, but for now you will have to watch me stumble around.

It’s back to school time and traditionally thats when artists knuckle down to preparing for the holiday rush.  Coming up are both Canadian and USA Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and of course Christmas, Hanukkah and all the other winter ceremonies and holidays. And winter IS coming ... I look out onto the surrounding trees and see definite tinges of orange and yellow.

With September comes the 30 Day Creative Gathering on Facebook. This year my theme is less about paintings and sculpture and more about cocooning but I will also sneak in a few art photographs.

My designer masks continue to be popular and I cant wait to tally up and write those big cheques for Alzheimers and the Cancer Clinic. I’ve decided that I will mail them at the end of the year, so anyone wanting a beautiful, functional, washable face mask, check them out at https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/SEA2YOU 100% of the profits go to non-profit.

I also love being creative with my furniture rescue project. Tired but still useful pieces of furniture are given a tune up and new life in my studio all ready for a someone to love them again. I share images of my creations to encourage you to wear something beautiful on your face when you mix socially and to have the courage to tweak your own furniture when you cocoon.

Above is a fire screen that was iridescent lurid green, copper and black, but I gave it a modern natural look with chalk paint. Below are a metal plant stand, now a pretty hall table; a mid brown butlers table, now a unique antique white conversation piece; a 12 inch shiny black plant stand, now a sweet leafy textured side table; and a bronzed plaster plaque, now a modern art deco sunburst for the foyer (the picture doesn't do it justice).

  1. Bravo Sea! everything looks great, the sunburst is really cool. I love it rugged. I see so many in Gold and silver. Yours is really cool. It is cooler here today, and windy. Hazy, I think we are getting some of the smoke from the fires. Stay safe and well, hope your Mom is getting stronger. Sending prayers...
