Here is another duo. The top two images are scans and the bottom two are photographs. Scans tend to be brighter and make better thumbnails on Daily Paintworks, but they sometimes look scratchy and flat. Photographs tend to appear more greyed, but show more depth of field, impasto and brushwork. I think the softer effect of the photograph is more accurate when viewing a larger version.
