Today I looked through my 200 or so photos that I have pre-selected for 30 paintings in 30 days and it hit me that all the ones that were calling to me had a large amount of orange in them. Tammy with her beautiful colourful fur was beckoning to me, so although I'm in the middle of a flower series, I just had to paint her. Her beady eye is on on something to eat I think. I hope you like her.

What a fab coat you have Mr Beaux Jangles.

"This is not a coat this is my skin. It's this way because I live among colourful tropical plants and I use it as a disguise."

Oh I apologise, but how clever you are. I'm impressed.

FOOTHILLS ACEO - NATIONAL PARKS SERIES

Yellowstone National Park, 1872 is commonly regarded as the world's oldest national park, but you may be surprised to learn that Bogd Khan Uul in Mongolia dates back to 1783, when the government designated it as an area to be protected for its natural beauty and off limits to exploitation.

Prior to the foundation of Bogd Khan Uul some British Commonwealth Countries created "Crown" reserves such as the forest reserve on the island of Tobago in 1776, but land belonging to the Monarch and land belonging to the people are not the same thing.

This gives you an idea of the beauty of this remote region. Collectors of my work will have noticed that I love both mountains and sunshine, especially high mountain meadows. Bogd Khan Uul  is set in the high country of Mongolia and includes Bogd Khan Uul Mountain and surrounds. As I was trolling through Google I saw many beautiful things very similar to foothills in the USA and Canada, but far more remote. The region has miles and miles of grasslands where the famous Mongolian horsemen practice their art. There are fabulous mountain peaks and sheltered valleys. I saw dry rolling grasslands, waterfalls and coniferous trees. A beautiful place to add to your bucket list and these days fairly simple to visit with adventure tour companies.

This painting is SOLD but I'm happy to take a commission for a similar work. Contact me to inquire about prints and Art cards.

Feedback is so important that I´m posting an unsold painting on this blog and in the Daily Paintworks `CRITIQUE ME` Challenge each day this month. Anyone can leave feedback by going to the challenge and clicking on the painting you would like to comment on. Don´t be shy, whether you´re a fellow Artist or an Art Lover, we would love to have your opinion.

ABOVE THE CROWD is the latest candidate for feedback. This painting is similar to others which were purchased, but this one remains in my catalog. Why? Sometimes a painting doesn´t sell because of lack of exposure or bad timing, but I´m open to hearing if there is anything else which needs attention. I´m tough, so please help me grow as an Artist by leaving a comment either below or at the DPW Challenge here.

If you would like feedback for your own work, post it here on DPW, it´s free to do so.

And this is my new painting today. Once again the camera and scanner just can't do justice to this beautiful decorative piece. Bronze, Violet and Gold interference paint make this painting literally glow when caught in the light. The whole appearance is of an elegant museum display.

This is the sister painting to MONARCH BUTTERFLY from yesterday. They make a wonderful pair above a bed or in the entranceway. As has become my custom, here is a scan and a photo plus detail of the iridescence. As usual each gives a different look and none really show the painting in it's full glory.

I have a more decorative piece today. The small photo shows some of the bronze highlights which occur throughout the painting. As you see, I've added a touch more orange since then.

This is a monthly challenge posted on "Artistic Sentiments" by Dana Marie. You can paint the photo as is, or merely use it for inspiration. The photo invoked childhood memories of berry picking with my grandma. I eliminated the barbed wire because I wanted to the viewer to feel free to roam. I wanted to convey the sweet smell of the late summer meadow and the motion of the brambles gently swaying in the breeze. I love the colour which makes me think of berry yoghurt.

Here I used blue and lemon to convey the crispness of a spring morning. Cadmium and phthalo are camera shy. I will post a better photo soon.

A bit abstract with thick impasto paint. So much nicer in real life and I had so much fun with this one.

THE GUARDIANS ACEO

Red rocks and green velvet headland shelter the bay. Soft waves kiss the beach in gentle rhythm. The warm air ruffles my hair and blows lazy veils past a milky sun. Twin conifers stand watch: How long have they been in this place? How long will they stay? For one brief moment time stands still.
