Postcard by Marjorie Thompson

This lovely postcard portrait (center)  is from Marjorie Thompson of Seattle, Washington, USA who is currently working in Encaustic. It's amazing what she can do with wax. See more of her work here.

On the back of the postcard Marjorie has written a quote from Thoreau...

"This world is but a canvas to our imagination".

I have pictured the postcard on display in my studio gallery with a couple of my pet portraits and a landscape.

I wanted to find something in my body of work that echoed Marjorie's style and the painting above seemed to fit being slightly mysterious and poignant.

A great price for one of my larger deep gallery wrap paintings. There is no need to frame because the painting continues around the sides for a spectacular 3D effect. It doesn't show well in the photo, but there are splashes of cerise on the sunset bathed water.

These frames are the wrong six but you get the idea and you can use your imagination to pretend they are the right size.

What is "The Hound" waiting for. He sits by the window gazing out into the front garden. What is going through his mind? Perhaps the loyal old hound is waiting for his family to come home. Perhaps he is hoping for a walk. What do you think?

Every now and then I do a larger pet painting which I intend to use for display. I then make the mistake of showing it to the pet owner who usually buys it before I can use it. This is a Hungarian Vizla who is 15 years old, a rare age for the breed. He's a lovely old dog who loves company.

A rare opportunity to own a Sea Dean original exhibition sized painting for an excellent price. Go to Daily Paintworks to purchase.
