Another mini for skyway.
These deep canvas minis stand on edge, so no need for an easel. They are also wired for hanging. Sometimes in certain light our lakes get this look. Kalamalka is most likely to exhibit this beautiful turquoise water.

WHITE MOUNTAIN V
WHITE MOUNTAIN V
4” x 4” Deep Canvas
Impasto Acrylic
Big White in the Okanagan is just that, big and in the winter, white. There is snow up there from about now, well into June, but the ski lifts close after Easter. Google tells me Big White is 2,319 meters (7,606 feet) high. Most of the out of town visitors to the mountain travel through our airport and so my mountain paintings are popular at our Skyway kiosk.
This is a mini for this winter.

Our local ski mountain is called Big White. It is just that, big, and in the winter, white. There is snow up there from about now, well into June. Google tells me it is 2,319 meters (7,606 feet) high.
When I first moved to the area there was a small family run ski village on Big White and everyone knew each other by first name. Now it’s an internationally run conglomerate with hundreds of chalets, condos and world class runs. Most of the out of town visitors to the mountain travel through our airport and so my mountain paintings are popular at our Skyway kiosk. This one is for this winter.

Chicken and Champagne
5" x 7" Slim wrap canvas
Professional Acrylic and Champagne Sparkles
Bid or Buy at Daily Paintworks
The Okanagan has been growing grapes for over 40 years, but in the past five, wineries have been popping up around every corner. Its not just the tourists that love our wine, us locals frequent the many bistros and patios during summer. Many offer free entertainment and even picnic ares for the family. The largest winery restaurants even stay open year round.
Ms. Chicken lured Azule away from his Ogopogo hunting expedition for a pleasant day vinyard hopping. Azul had heard about our champagne method wines and wanted to take some bottles home for his friends. We sat on a terrace with our wine to enjoy the view. TC found the sparkly bubbles quite fascinating and before I could stop her, she had hopped into my champagne bowl. She said it was quite exhilarating, a cross between a jacuzzi and a polar bear swim.
I tried and tried to get a good image of this painting:There it was sparkling in the sun with the deep impasto creating dimensional shadows, but every photo came out dull. This is definately not a dull painting, during the day it sparkles and at night it glows. You will have to use your imagination.
Sad to say the traveling companions will be leaving the Okanagan for their next adventure. They will take with them some wonderful memories and many souvenir postcards of their visit.
A fond farewell TC and Azule.

Lavender Field
LAVENDER FIELD
8" x 10" Deep Wrap Canvas
$99
This painting is destined for skyway, but if you can't live without it contact me in the next week to make arrangements before it leaves the studio.
When we see lavendar fields it's usual to think of Provence in France, however, lavender farming is becoming popular around the world and we do have at least one commercial Lavender Farm in the Okanagan.
I became aware of the trend when visiting the UK a few years ago. My sister and I hired a car for a few days and selected a few tourist destinations to visit, one was a Lavender Farm. I thought this was a bit left field, but when we arrived I found the whole experience quite charming. There was a small gift shop focused on items made with lavender and depicting the purple flowers. There was a lovely garden and of course the lavender fields. The owners had recently purchased a wind generator and there were interesting details on how it worked and how much money was being saved. Then there was a cute tea room with all kinds of things made with lavender including tea and lavender scones.
Our lavender farm is only open in the summer months, so I used artistic license to create this painting. This is the gorgeous view from the farm and how I imagine the lavender will look in full bloom. Our farm also has a tea room and I think I may meet there with friends on my birthday.

Orchard View
8" x 8" Deep Wrap Canvas
$89
I've been a bit overwhelmed lately, but today I found a bit of time to practise for Art Battle which is being held on June 16th. I don't know if I will end up painting this view, but I wanted to practise working with paint of a similar consistency to that provided during the competition. I will have to pick up speed though because this took me a lot longer than the allowed 20 mins and it's a lot smaller.
Our skies have been quite cloudy and grey lately because the weather has been unusually wet. Luckily it's been a bumper season for cherry blossom and the apples are now in bloom. This painting was inspired by images I took on a quick Sunday drive up Black Knight mountain where many orchards have survived the trend of converting to vines.
The sky is neutral violet grey, the blossom titanium white, the grass lemon yellow and ivory black and the blue cobalt.

Summer Breeze Exhibition Painting
SUMMER BREEZE II
36" x 24" Deep Gallery Wrap Canvas
I've been working on this painting for a couple of months. It's one of those paintings that took its own sweet time declaring itself done. I think I had to wait for a nice sunny spring day to feel in the mood to get the colors perfect.
This is one I would like to keep for myself, but it is needed for a submission and if I choose not to submit it will either go to Skyway Kelowna Airport or Ritchcraft Gallery in Kelowna Mission district. However, it is currently for sale at Daily Paintworks, so if you love it, snap it up before it leaves the studio.

30 PAINTINGS IN 30 DAYS - THIRTEEN - PEACEFUL LAKE
PEACEFUL LAKE
10" x 10" Deep Wrap Canvas
By Sea Dean
This acrylic painting serves as my thirteenth entry into the 30 in 30 challenge. Follow my blog so you don't miss any.
This painting is all about the clouds. I wanted to create an assymetrical composition with very simple land forms. We've had a lot of these puffy clouds above our lakes this year, although at the moment the hillsides are covered in our famous powdery snow. I'm preparing for my spring shows at the moment and no one wants to buy snowy paintings during our glorious spring weather.

U100 SHOW - The Lake
THE LAKE
10" x 20" Birch Cradle
Available at LCAG U100 Show
I am so proud that the Mayor of Lake Country, James Baker, selected this painting for his personally curated wall in the show. The view is a familiar one of Wood Lake taken from the bench between Wood Lake and Okanagan Lake. I'm hoping this ens up somewhere in the municipal offices.
For enthusiastic early birds, the exhibition opens Saturday 19th November. Saturday and Sunday are hectic as buyers flood in to see small works by some of the top artists in the area and red dots flow as paintings are snapped up as gifts. I will be at the gallery both afternoons to assist buyers and answer questions.
For last minute shoppers, this year the show closes December 21st but it's best to come early. In previous years we've sold a large portion of paintings in the first few days of the show and because buyers are allowed to take paintings off the walls, we have a fresh intake of art after the first week to fill spaces.

U100 SHOW - Ocean Breeze
OCEAN BREEZE
12" x 24" Wrap Canvas
Available at U100 Show
Yes, this is over 100 sq ins! A few artists in the exhibition are allowed to submit one painting between 100 and 200 sq in and another between 200 and 300 sq in. So, here is my largest piece. One of my favourites with deep texture and swirling abstract lines. As you can see, it works well hanging either way.
In the U100 Ihave it displayed near the floor with about 25 more paintings above it, and it still shines. A stunning piece!
The U100 Show takes place every year at Lake Country Art Gallery. This year there are nearly 1,000 works under 100 square inches and priced under $100. It will take the exhibition team over a week to prepare and hang this amazing collection.

U100 SHOW - White Mountain II
WHITE MOUNTAIN II
10" x 10" Wrap Canvas
Available at the U100 Show
This painting used to be part of a triptych, but one piece sold, so I've split up the two remaining pieces which are just as nice on their own. I've reworked this painting slightly, adding some trees to the foreground. The sister painting, White Mountain III, is in my solo exhibition at BLENZ in Westbank, B.C. They still work well as a diptych or pair, so you can take a nice drive throug the valley and pick up both.

LIGHT AND SHADOW
LIGHT AND SHADOW
Artist Sea Dean
24" x 36" Deep Wrap Canvas
"All the beauty of life is made up of light and shadow" Leonid Tolstoy
I named this painting before I came across the above quotation, but it is very appropriate.
The painting has graced the wall above my mantle for about a year now. The southern light catches the clouds beautifully. The rich warm colors of the mountains are luscious and pleasant to live with. However, sadly, it doesn't work with the new carpet so it's time to let go.
Soon LIGHT AND SHADOW will be moving over to Artfinder but presently is available by contacting me through this blog.

This painting may be purchased separately or grab all three and you have the triptych below. Here you is the left hand panel. The painting is highly textured, especially the snowy mountain peaks. It is painted on premium heavy duty deep gallery wrap canvas which is designed to last a lifetime.
If you purchase the triptych you don't have to place them close together as shown. Because the painting follows around the side it creates a 3D effect and you can separate them by several feet without losing the continuity.

SUNSET OVER THE LAKE and LAKE MONSTERS DON'T EXIST

| SOLD |
Yes - Small sells
Yes - Deep gallery wrap canvas sells
Yes - Landscapes sell
Yes - Warm toned paintings sell
I hear that cute sells, however, they didn't like my Ogopogo, so he is now hanging in my studio washroom and fits perfectly with the soft grey, beige and sage decor. I know animals sell (didn't do any for this submission or the last, but must rectify that).
No - Winter scenes are slow to sell, however, I did sell a very snowy mountain scene and a snowy river in thaw. I put that down to the major ski hills around us with ski travelers passing through the departure lounge.
Notes for next submission - Animals - Warm Tones - Landscapes
