I'm in love with the beautiful MATISSE Southern Ocean Blue. It is even more translucent, glowing and vibrant in real life.

The painting is of a statue my mother owns by and unknown artist. I love the statue and painted it over a year ago with a completely different background, but it never looked right, so I put it on the side for review. Today I picked it up and tried a touch of this stunning paint on the edge and that was it!

It's amazing how sometimes a painting requires only a small adjustment to complete it and other times it takes days to figure it out. I think today I was truly inspired and it's possible this may be a study for a larger painting still in the planning stages.

  1. Touching base with you again after a quiet period of travel, recuperation and finding inspiration. I am amazed how much work you did, with success, in 2013. Wow! You not only painted every day but you learned about promoting yourself.

    1. Welcome back Carol. I hope you had a wonderful time. I was going for 365 paintings but it became clear along the way that I needed periods of consolidation, so I ended up with 282 new paintings and sold over 100 which is shocking to me. I learn a lot from my Facebook group GET YOUR ART OUT THERE not only from the members, but it forces me to provide interesting and fresh material regularly which keeps me clicking. I also found out that being a professional artist means working long hours for little pay but who would want to do anything else?

  2. This one is a genuine stunner of a painting - how can you part with it? So many areas of perfection in such a small space.

    1. Thank you Julie. I think I can part with it because I plan something larger along the same theme. I'm feeling inspired this year. The painting already has a bid which is a nice thing to wake up to. :)
