INTERGENERATIONAL EXHIBITION - LADY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS - ART THROUGH THE AGES

LADY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS

A collaborative collage by mother and daughter, Charlotte and Sea Dean
12” x 12” Canvas Panel
Mixed Media

I had to photograph the finished work in while it was in the exhibition and as you can see, there is uneven lighting, so i've also included a part finished version with better lighting.

Can be viewed and purchased at ART THROUGH THE AGES EXHIBITION Lake Country Art Gallery or online at Daily Paintworks. Part of the proceeds to LCAG public gallery.

Charlotte had the idea to add a print of my painting “Beautiful Eyes” to one of our pieces. We started with a blank canvas and the same collage items as previously, spread in front of us. Charlotte arranged the glitter and "diamonds" and I added the blocks and embellishments, using Charlotte's knitting wool and signature Pyrole Red. Eventually the result was a work we were both satisfied with. You will note that this is a rare double signature to reflect the collaboration.

I have always respected the wisdom of older friends and relatives; after all, they probably experienced the same situation and found a solution in the past, so why not ask their opinion? By living through wars and times of hardship, the older generation have learned to adapt, something we need to re-learn in the current economy.

Lady in the sky with Diamonds, on the theme of “making do”.
