Born December 13, 1871, in Victoria, British Columbia
Attended the California School of Design in San Francisco
Like many artists of her time she traveled to Europe studying at the Westminster School of Art in England and then in Paris
In 1927 she traveled to eastern Canada and met members of the Group of Seven. She was particularly inspired by the work of Lawren Harriss.
Emily Carr died in Victoria on May 2, 1945
