The first 7 days of the Leslie Saeta 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. My goal is to use all of the textural supplies I have on hand, and maybe sneak in a few new ones :) Leslie allows us to paint ahead as a warm up, so I used some of the textural paintings I created for my solo exhibition at Lake Country Coffee Shop.
FLYING HIGH 48” x 36” Oil $1,499 - Day 1 #92 -
I forgot it started at midnight Aug 30th, so posted late morning. A rare oil.
BLOSSOMING 24” x 24” Mixed Media $575 - Day 2 #22
A totally repainted thickly textured piece originally a collaboration with T O’Rielly
ROCKWELL CAT 4” x 4” Acrylic $40 - Day 3 #3
Repainted background and added a milk bowl, Played with semi gloss and gloss coatings.
BUTTERFLY EFFECT 20” x 20” Mixed Media $395 - Day 4 #29
Added loads of Matt gel texture and darker butterflies
RAIL TRAIL 6” x 8” Mixed Media $75 - Day 5 # 119
I couldn’t get color balance right, so fiddled with it into the early hours. It’s much prettier than image
BLOSSOM 6” x 6” Acrylic $65 - Day 6 #4
I added some darker branches and painted the bird in thick gloss gel with copper overlay. later added laser cut birch flower painted to match.
MINI TEX I 3” x 4” Acrylic $35 - Day 7 # 5
lashings of thick texture created with dried paint supplies and acrylic skins, soft gloss gel and gloss medium and varnish.aThe paint is about 1/2” thick and the birch cradle a bit deeper so it is almost like a wall mounted sculpture.
Although there are hundreds of artists registered, only about 150 new paintings are posted on the blog each day. Some artists are painting each day but not completing a daily painting, others haven’t figured out how to post and yet others only have a few spare hours a week so post when they can. There is a core group that manage to create a new piece each day and they should be applauded. Visit the challenge blog and see the amazing variety produced.
