My Starbucks White Cup Contest Entry.
Well that was much more difficult than it seemed on the surface Mr Starbuck!.
Problem 1. No Starbucks in vicinity - Solved by delivery of cup by fellow artist Sylvia Scriver. Thanks greatly!
Problem 2. Must only use 4 colours and one had to be the green of the logo (sheesh!) - Can you imagine me sticking to only 4 colours? Solved by leaving out specific pantone colou green altogether. (There seems to be a lot of black marker amongst the entries).
Problem 3. What to paint? Well I had just taken some lovely pics in the park when I went for a stroll with my Mum on Mothers Day. One tree was a lovely deep burgundy colour and with sunlight the leaves turned scarlet. I used my reference photo to create a painting on panel and then used that to inspire the cup design. I had to add a heart and a sun of course or it wouldn't be me.
Problem 4. The cup didn't like acrylic paint and it kept flaking off. Solved by holding via the lid and not breathing till it was done.Then setting with clear gel
Problem 5. Enter via Twitter. Not being a Twit I hadn't got a clue how to do that but did manage to figure out what a hashtag was and how to search and follow.
Eh voila!
Now I don't expect to win the over $400 prize, but I'm proud I got off my duff and did it. Perhaps I will auction it on Ebay. Ya never know! If you want to buy now, make an offer in comments.
