I created this painting as a demo for a class and finished it for the" Art for Vets" exhibition earlier this week, so I've included it as one of my paintings for the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. It is now hanging in Blenz Westbank near the old Zellers location. The owners of this Blenz are great supporters of arts in the area and you can usually find fabulous work from local artists on their walls.
There is a fair amount of iridescent gold in this painting and that tends to photograph as brown but shines in person. Other colours are eau de nile green and medium cadmium yellow. There is a lot of texture and the butterflies stand away from the canvas, which adds another dimension. It is an airy and lighthearted piece which would work in most rooms of the house, but perfect in a breakfast area or study.
