#30in30 - Day 23 - MINI TEX VII

I’ve been experimenting with crackle for the 30 day challenge.

This is MINI TEX VII  has a base of Plaid Folk Art Home Decor Chalk (ultra matte acrylic paint) in Sheepskin. On top of that is Kroma Crackle, which is from a specialist artist’ shop And purports to be for fine art applications. I hadn’t achieved the effect I wanted with this product before, so decided to blob on the gloopy stuff very thickly, about 1/8”.

It has been a couple of days and it’s still drying and tacky to the touch, but I’m finally achieving a larger cracked effect. It’s hard to stop myself putting a layer of paint on top, but I want it to dry rock hard and develop fully first. As the crackle dries it gets whiter, so it’s not to difficult to see how it is progressing.

About 100 new paintings are posted on the blog each day. Some artists are painting daily and others have few spare hours so post when they can. There is a core group that manage to create a new piece each day and they should be applauded. Visit the challenge blog and see the amazing variety produced.
