Welcome to the neighbourhood - The Art Lover

Yesterday I had the priviledge of being one of the last artists to install in the latest exhibition at Lake Country Art Gallery. Welcome to the (Neighbour) hood is this year’s version of the annual
intergenerational exhibition, in which I have participated from inception. As with most annual
exhibitions the bar has raised each year and I was pleasantly surprised by both the work and the way it is displayed. Lake Country Art Gallery is small, but it has become a force in the local art scene, an exhibition not to be missed.

My submission, THE ART LOVER, is a rare hand painted and drawn art piece, consisting of a life size vintage manikin covered in Molowtow acrylic paint pen and acrylic paint. She comes with a wardrobe of two dresses, a patent purse and a large silk scarf which can be draped like a sarong or used to cover the base. The writing is all art related, mainly wise sayings from famous artists. I use the term ‘artist’ as an inclusive, covering music, theatre, sculpture, painting and writing.

Art Lover, affectionately nick named “Josephine”, is a true conversation piece. The open collaborative artwork comes with the option to personalize with a favorite saying and on purchase I can add a name, or a special date to your art to truly make it your own.
